In this episode, my goal is to correct a misunderstanding of what Jesus spoke from the cross, "My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?" Matthew 27:46. We will tie this to Psalm 22:1, where David writes prophetically of Jesus and His ministry and what would be accomplished after His death. We will look at Habakkuk 1:13 and how this has served as a proof text for our misunderstanding. We will look at Job 9:13 and how we cannot always explicitly tie thoughts to specific Scripture. Deuteronomy 31:6 and Hebrews 13:5 serve to be markers for the promise of God never to forsake us. How can this not also apply to Jesus? I hope this episode helps re-establish the truth, silence the subconscious fear that God will also forsake us if He forsook Jesus, and correct God's image as a Father to His Christ. I pray this is a blessing!
